Dear OCA families and friends,
Happy Lunar New Year! 新年好!
We recently held a tremendously successful Lunar New Year Celebration, and I want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to our generous sponsors: Evergreen Enterprises & Ms. Ting Xu, San Yeh Charity and Education Corp, Sarah Bice & Associates Real Estate LLC, Wen Acupuncture & Healing Center, and Teppanyaki Grill & Supreme Buffet. Your support made this magnificent event possible, allowing us to celebrate and share the richness of Chinese culture with our community.
A special thank you to our dedicated board members and Governance Committee. As a fully volunteer-run organization, our board members balance demanding careers and family commitments while devoting their time and energy to uplifting our community. Their months of meticulous planning brought this celebration to life. Meanwhile, our Governance Committee ensures that OCA-CVC meets its legal, fiduciary, and ethical responsibilities, helping us operate effectively and sustainably.
We are also deeply grateful to our incredible volunteers. Your dedication and hard work were essential to this event’s success, exemplifying the spirit of unity and collaboration that strengthens our community.
In today’s challenging climate towards Asian Americans, especially Chinese Americans, it is more important than ever to embrace opportunities to demonstrate the richness and value of Chinese culture. Celebrating Lunar New Year is one powerful way we assert that our heritage deserves the respect and recognition of all Americans.
Beyond cultural celebrations, OCA-CVC remains committed to developing the next generation of leaders. With invaluable support from OCA National, which provides funding, facilitators, and training materials, we hosted our second annual Asian American Youth Leadership Program last September. Thanks to San Yeh Charity & Education Corp, our Youth Leadership Award Program recognized 17 outstanding high school students in Central Virginia. These initiatives continue to empower young leaders to make meaningful contributions to our community.
We are also proud to have launched the OCA-CVC Lion Dance Club in partnership with Tucker High School’s Chinese Club, preserving a cherished cultural tradition with financial support from OCA National. The dedication of our Lion Dance team is truly inspiring.
Last year, we also established a Junior Board composed of dedicated high school students, who have played a crucial role in expanding our youth initiatives. They successfully organized the second Lunar New Year Student Art Contest and expanded our virtual tutoring program, providing vital academic support to students in need.
Beyond youth programs, OCA-CVC actively engages with the broader community through cultural and sporting event sponsorships, community grants, and partnerships with Henrico County, Chesterfield County, the Asian American Society of Central Virginia (AASoCV), and the YMCA.
As a membership-driven organization, OCA-CVC remains steadfast in its mission to advance the social, political, and economic well-being of Chinese and Asian Pacific Americans nationwide. Our strength lies in our members, and we encourage you to join our growing OCA family. Together, we can achieve even greater things.
As we welcome the Year of the Snake, I wish you and your loved ones happiness, health, and prosperity. May this New Year bring us closer as a community.
Happy Lunar New Year!
给大家拜年,祝大家新的一年里身体健康,阖家欢乐,万事如意!
Jie Liu, President of the OCA-CVC

Evergreen Enterprises
In 1993, in an ordinary community garage in Richmond, Virginia, a Chinese enterprise full of dreams was born - Evergreen Enterprises. The original intention of her establishment was simple and pure, hoping to start a new life and find the happiness of life for Kochi parents who came to a foreign country for the first time. By chance, I got acquainted with Garden Flag, which started Evergreen’s entrepreneurial journey.
The founder, Ms. Xu Ting, and her family relied on their keen insight into the American garden flag market and their unremitting efforts. The company continued to develop and grow, and developed from an initial production and trading company of garden decorative flags into a global leader in home, garden decoration, gifts and motherboards. A large lifestyle global company that is trending in the baby market. Today, Evergreen not only has its headquarters in Richmond, but also has branches in Canada and Ningbo, China, with more than 800 employees worldwide. Evergreen has a rich product range with more than 12,000 categories and serves more than 17,000 independent retailers. The company has also established in-depth cooperative relationships with many well-known retail companies in North America, such as Costco, Wal-Mart, Kroger, Lowe's, and Home Depot. In addition, Evergreen owns multiple private brands and sells products directly to consumers on independent websites such as www.myevergreen.com, www.plowhearth.com, www.windandweather.com and www.vivaterra.com, as well as on Wayfair A complete sales network has been formed on mainstream online shopping platforms such as , Target, and Amazon.
Over the past 30 years, Evergreen has always adhered to family ties and adhered to its original aspirations. In a complex and ever-changing market environment, Evergreen has stood out with its fast, accurate and stable flexibility. Ms. Xu Ting, Chairman of Evergreen, has always believed that only by maintaining the spirit of advancing with the times and constantly innovating and pioneering can the company maintain vitality and develop steadily. As an outstanding Chinese entrepreneur, Ms. Xu Ting not only successfully runs Evergreen, but also serves as a director of New Market Corporation, VA Public Media, The Nature Conservancy and other organizations, and fully supports various charity activities of the Chinese American Museum in Washington. , such as the Terracotta Warriors and Horses Touring Exhibition, the National Palace Museum exchange activities, etc., and has also been supporting various social activities of the Chinese-American Association, committed to building a bridge of friendship between China and the United States, and promoting economic and cultural exchanges between the two countries.
"World view, Chinese sentiment, evergreen people" has always been the core concept of Evergreen. Under the leadership of Ms. Xu Ting, Evergreen will continue to create new miracles and demonstrate its unique charm and social responsibility as a global enterprise.
San Yeh Charity and Education Corp
San's Story
On June 15, 1924, San Lian Yeh was born in Zhejiang, a province on the eastern coast of China. He grew up as the youngest of four brothers and three sisters in a large middle-class family. As a teenager, San personally experienced two hugely definitive world events — the Japanese invasion of China in 1937 and the subsequent outbreak of the Second World War. Through the majority of the war, San worked as a middle school teacher, mentoring young students who had been torn from their families during the conflict. When Japanese forces advanced on his home town in 1944, he and several other teachers guided a group of their students through the mountains to escape. After safely delivering the children to the Chinese national forces in Shanghai, he joined the Nationalist army under the command of Chiang Kai-Shek and continued to fight the Japanese until the end of the war.
“We grant annual scholarships to students who embody the traits we value most – sincerity, honesty, and integrity. ”
